2014 NCAA Division I Simulated Playoff

Pre-Tournament seeding will rank the top 4 teams in the pre-bowl BCS rankings. Just like the playoff system that will be happening next year, emphasis will be given toward teams that have won their conferences and special consideration will be given to teams from non-AQ conferences ONLY if they rank above an AQ-Conference Champion. This is all based off of the information that I have available to me at the time of this posting.

Florida State is the highest ranked conference champion from an AQ conference so they will take the #1 seed.

Auburn is the next highest ranked conference champion from an AQ conference so they will take the #2 seed.

Alabama is ranked 3rd in the pre-bowl BCS rankings however they will be skipped due to the fact that Alabama did not win their conference.

4th ranked Michigan State defeated Ohio State for the Big Ten Championship so they will take the #3 seed over Alabama.

5th ranked Stanford won the PAC-12 so they will round everything out with the #4 seed.

Since Alabama failed to win their conference they will not be permitted into the 4 team playoff even though they have a #3 ranking in the BCS. Baylor did win the Big 12 conference but they are also not allowed in the playoff since there simply aren’t any spots left. Baylor is officially the 2013 team on the outside looking in.

In traditional 4 team playoff format we are going to match up #1 Vs #4 and #2 Vs #3. #1 Florida State vs #4 Stanford will play at the Rose Bowl and #2 Auburn vs #3 Michigan State will play at the Sugar Bowl. The National Championship game will be played at the Cotton Bowl. The locations of the games don’t really matter for this simulation but I listed them anyway.

The simulation is predicting that Florida State would defeat Stanford and Auburn would defeat Michigan State setting up the #1 vs. #2 in the National Championship. No controversies this year. The simulation further predicts that Florida State will blowout Auburn for the National Championship. My simulation likes to embellish on scores but it is predicting that over 50 points will be scored before half time.

Here is your completed bracket:
