April 22, 1889 – Oklahoma Land Run

1905 – First game as Southwestern Normal School (Lost to Central State 0 to 41)

1905 – First win (Defeated Kingfisher 3 to 0)

November 16, 1907 – Oklahoma becomes a state

1908 – No games scheduled

1915 – 10th win (Defeated Phillips 27 to 0)

1920 – First game/win as Southwestern State Teachers College (Defeated Oklahoma Baptist 9 to 6)

1920 – 3rd year Head Coach John Lance surpasses former Head Coach Moses Gaskell as the winningest coach in SWOSU history when his Southwestern State Teachers College Football Team defeat Oklahoma Baptist 9 to 6

1924 – 3rd year Head Coach Carl Voyles surpasses former Head Coach John Lance as the winningest coach in SWOSU history when his Southwestern State Teachers College Football Team defeat Oklahoma City 48 to 2

1926 – Won first Conference Championship (Defeated Clarendon 20 to 0) SWOSU has won 17 Conference Championships to date

1931 – 6th year Head Coach Joe Milan surpasses former Head Coach Carl Voyles as the winningest coach in SWOSU history when his Southwestern State Teachers College Football Team defeat Fort Sill 52 to 0

1939 – First game as Southwestern State College of Diversified Occupations (Tied with Northern Oklahoma 0 to 0)

1939 – First win as Southwestern State College of Diversified Occupations (Defeated Northwestern 39 to 0)

1940 – 100th win (Defeated Oklahoma City 28 to 7)

1941 – First game as Southwestern Institute of Technology (Lost to St. Mary’s 0 to 13)

1941 – First win as Southwestern Institute of Technology (Defeated Cameron 20 to 0)

1942-1945 – Football suspended for World War II

1946 – 4th year Head Coach Jake Spann surpasses former Head Coach Joe Milan as the winningest coach in SWOSU history when his Southwestern Institute of Technology Football Team defeat Northwestern 7 to 0

1949 – First game as Southwestern State College (Lost to Abilene Christian 6 to 34)

1949 – First win as Southwestern State College (Defeated Northeastern 21 to 7)

1957 – 6th year Head Coach Joe Matcalf surpasses former Head Coach Jake Spann as the winningest coach in SWOSU history when his Southwestern State College Bulldogs defeat East Central 14 to 0

1962 – Southwestern Oklahoma State Tackle Roger Van Cleff was selected in Round 13 of the NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings becoming the first former SWOSU player drafted into a professional football league (SWOSU has had 4 players drafted to date)

1966 – 200th win (Defeated Central State 21 to 14)

1969 – 6th year Head Coach Otis Delaporte surpasses former Head Coach Joe Metcalf as the winningest coach in SWOSU history when his Southwestern State College Bulldogs defeat Sam Houston 31 to 0

1972 – Won first Bowl Game (Defeated Angelo State 28 to 6 in the Shrine Bowl) SWOSU has won 1 Bowl Game to date

1974 – First game/win as Southwestern Oklahoma State University (Defeated Sam Houston 37 to 14)

1982 – 300th win (Defeated Cameron 16 to 9)

1996 – First NAIA National Championship Victory (Defeated Montana Tech 33 to 31)

1997 – Won first Division Championship (Defeated Harding 42 to 33) SWOSU has won 2 Division Championships to date

2002 – 400th win (Defeated Panhandle 15 to 0)
